Professor Rudolph “Butch” T. Ware ran for vice president alongside Jill Stein, billed for president on the green Party ticket in the 2024 US federal elections. What makes Prof. Ware politically unique in North America, is that he called-out the ongoing genocide in Gaza, something that no political candidate would do, including the Green Party in Canada. Too many eager for political power are afraid to call out the Gaza genocide for fear of drawing the ire of the Israeli lobbies and mainstream media. Therefore, what could be an easy, principled stance, “No to genocide” is considered too politically dangerous, despite International Criminal Court (ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings. Further, the US has the ‘Leahy Law‘ which prohibits the violation and complicity of human rights with impunity. A person need not take sides in disputes, but simply follow the ICC, ICJ rulings and the Leahy Law. Prof. Ware is one of the few willing to take a principled stance despite Israeli lobbies like AIPAC and the mainstream media establishment. But standing against the Gaza genocide is not the only stance he takes. Prof. Ware is now running for Governor of California and is making a bold platform that includes health care, education, housing, things other places may take for granted elsewhere, but in the US, is in short supply among the lower and working classes. Ware makes the case that the main parties in power, neither democrat nor republican has voters’ best interest at heart, nor humanity, and the complicity in the latest genocide is a case in point.
